Baker Assistant Full-Time

📅 Starting: February-March 2026

  1. We’re looking for a Baker Assistant to join Em Cakes and support our senior Baker and Cake Decorators. You’ll help with baking, prepping and decorating cakes, while learning our house styles and standards and growing your skills as part of a friendly team.

    🔧 Key Responsibilities

    • Assist with mixing, baking and preparing cake layers and other baked goods

    • Support basic decorating tasks: examples: cutting layers, filling, crumb-coating, and simple piping

    • Help with weighing, measuring and preparing ingredients

    • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with food safety standards

    • Support with packaging, labelling and organising orders as needed

    🎯 Who We’re Looking For

    • Experience working in a commercial baking kitchen (ideally with cakes or pastry, desserts)

    • Good basic baking knowledge and confidence using kitchen equipment

    • Great attention to detail and pride in producing neat, consistent work

    • Willingness to learn, take feedback and grow within the business

    • Reliable, organised and able to work calmly in a fast-paced environment

    Requirements:
    ✅ 1+ years of baking experience in a commercial kitchen
    ✅ Passion for cake decorating & high-quality baking
    ✅ Some cake decorating skills is a plus

    Store Operations & Service Lead Full-Time

    📅 Starting: January 2026

    We’re looking for a Store Operations & Service Lead to run the day-to-day of our cake store in West Hampstead.

    At Em Cakes, we care about three things: quality cakes, smooth operations, and outstanding customer service. This is an independent, hands-on role where you’ll look after customers, coordinate orders and logistics, and keep the store looking and running at its best. This role also requires a great collaboration with other members in other departments.

    🔧 Key Responsibilities

    • Customer Service & Sales

      • Be the main point of contact for customers in-store, by phone and online

      • Answer customer enquiries clearly and professionally (including written order confirmations and emails)

      • Deliver excellent customer service and support in-store sales and upselling

    • Operations & Logistics

      • Oversee day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing procedures

      • Coordinate cake orders, collections, and deliveries to ensure everything runs on time

      • Manage stock levels, pack orders, and place replenishment orders when needed

      • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure accurate, timely preparation and handover of orders

      • Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming store environment at all times

    🎯 Who We’re Looking For

    • A people-person with a genuine passion for great service (and cake!)

    • Strong operations mindset – organised, calm under pressure, and confident juggling multiple tasks

    • Experience in retail, hospitality, or food service in a supervisory or senior team-member role (preferred)

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – you’re comfortable talking to customers and writing clear messages, confirmations and notes

    • Reliable, proactive, and positive – someone who takes ownership and gets things done
